RSD Launches DESTINY 11/17/08

The Rochester School for the Deaf library has launched DESTINY – a user friendly, Web-based library automation system.

With DESTINY, RSD students and their family members, as well as RSD staff, can now access the entire library catalog of books, reference works, audio/visual and other educational materials from virtually any computer connected to the Internet.

To access the system follow any of the highlighted DESTINY words in this news article or click on the image below.

Once logged in, users can select from one of two tabs at the top of the system page.

The tab labeled "Catalog" opens the catalog section of the DESTINY system for RSD. In the catalog users can search for materials by: Title, Author, Subject, Keyword or Series. Search preferences include Basic, Power, Visual and Copy Categories. At the top of the catalog home page a link to the current Top 10 books at RSD can be found. Also at the top, on the left side of the catalog home page, the tab labeled Destiny Quest is a link to lead users to the area of the site where RSD students and staff can find out what new books and other materials are available for them in the RSD library.

From the "Home" tab users can select from a listing of additional resource provided, including: NewsBank to search the Democrat and Chronicle and other American newspapers; EBSCO and Gale databases; World Book Online Encyclopedia; and Teachingbooks.net, a resource for teachers.
