During the final weeks and days of this school year, RSD graduates celebrated their accomplishments with fun and good times.

High School seniors in the Rochester School for the Deaf Class of 2010 went to Darien Lake Theme Park for their senior trip on Saturday May 22.

On Tuesday evening June 22, Superintendent Dr. Harold Mowl, Jr. and his wife Mary hosted seniors for a dinner in their honor at the Mowl residence in Pittsford, NY.

The RSD Class of 2010 Commencement Ceremony took place on Thursday evening June 24.

The evening started with a reception for graduates and their family and friends in the Learning Resource Center in Westervelt Hall.

At 7:00 p.m. graduates marched into the RSD auditorium to the piano accompaniment provided by RSD teacher Mrs. Pamela McInerney. President of the RSD Board of Directors Dr. Gerry Walter greeted graduates and their families and friends, and RSD staff.

Class of 2010 Reflections were provided by seniors Mark Andrew Sperr and Justin J. Griffin. INTERLUDE, a special performance dedicated to our RSD Class of 2010 graduates, was titled “World Around You.” It was performed by RSD High School student Tavish Kinkead and RSD Teaching Assistant Mr. Randy Dunham, under the direction of RSD Teaching Assistant Ms. Victoria Nordquist.

The graduation program included an inspiring commencement address by special guest speaker Rev. Mr. Patrick A. Graybill, our 2009-2010 RSD Deaf Artist-in-Residence.

Mr. S. Chris Bradley, Director of RSD Student Life Programs, presented RSD Board of Directors student awards to Zachary Ray Hamilton, Justin J. Griffin, and Mark Andrew Sperr.

Diplomas were presented to graduates by Mrs. Nancy Heaney, Director of RSD High School Program. She was assisted by Dr. Mowl and Dr. Walter.

A special note of thanks to our interpreters for the evening: Ms. Denise Green, Mr. Gene DiVincenzo, and Mr. David Gratzer and the RSD Class of 2010 Advisors: Ms. Kathy Wright and Mr. S. Chris Bradley.
